Glasto 2007 Day 2

Morning Glasto

even Banksy made his controversial contribution, trying to add plastic and blasphemy to a sacred site "the stone circle".
His creature was soon covered by graffiti, if that was as a protest or as a manifestation of joy is for the next generation to find out.

Views from a loo roll ( a recycled one...an update for curious followers on the loo roll issue- paper was white and soft... but it smelt of poo)

Back to the tent... well it all went a bit mad..

So we decided that was time to hit the concerts

And the loos..

Glasto 2007 Day 1

Lady V, Heidi and I meet at 2.15 to embark for the big journey, trying to find some clarity though the stream of albeo's messages requesting lanterns from habitat and soft dry pillows..
Oh well the short journey to Victoria's coach station turn out to be an almost 2 hours of still traffic and change of transports.
We tried the cab company round the corner, nothing available, black cabs an uthopy. We jumped on the bus after overpurchasing the amount of tickets, after being stock for 9 red traffic light in the same spot, we jumped off, got in a cab to try to go through side roads. 3.10 and we were still in Leicester Square, leave taxi, get on tube where I managed to drop loo roll ( just in case!) in front of the ticket offiice.
Bus departure time 3.30
Time 3.26 ( out of Victoria tube)
estimated walk to the coach station 7 min
To cut a long story short and trying to hide the fact that the station looked surprisingly empty, we manage to get on the 4 o'clock bus.

As soon as we heard the story of our fellow travellers we laughed.
They flew from the States 2 days earlier, airline lost their luggage and all the stuff for Glasto with no address to deliver the luggage to ( can you imagine? Glasto- tent 120340 on the right) they had to get emergency medication and now just with a newly purchased bag ( empty) a mobile phone and a credit card they hopped on the bus - no wellies, no tent, no clothes and yet no ticket

Heidi decided that it was appropriate to patch her trousers on the bus wearing a tiara.

As if we were all going to this relaxing spa for the next couple of days.

Arrival- It was soon clear that we needed wellies.. and off we go.
I knew roughly the area of the tent, so waited till we were there to call Albeo.
A = Do you see a tower, that looks like an indian tower?
B = No.. Do the other see it too?

For you to judge, it looks more like an octopus or a jelly fish(y).

A quiet Sunday next door

Heidi watching WONDERWOMAN... Nostalgic moments!!!

From a discussion with Albeo

We were on our way home, survivors of baby Bruno ejecting milk through 3 flights of stairs and lots of alcohol laughter and celebrations.
He was trying to explain that you can chill a can of coke in 5 minutes if you place it in a bucket of ice and water and then add salt, salt makes water freeze at a lower temperature.
To which I said, you can just put some ice in the coke and make it cold.
Oh well.. it's a different thing.
But why then do you add salt to make water boil quicker.

Here you go..

Why does salt lower freezing point and raise boiling point of water?

Why does dissolving salt in water lower the freezing point and raise the boiling point?

When salt (NaCl) dissolves in water, its sodium (Na+) and chlorine (Cl-) ions leave the salt crystals and mix separately among the water molecules. These ions affect the water molecules and their freezing and boiling temperatures in different ways:

1. Lower freezing point
Water molecules form crystals when freezing. Na+ and Cl- ions from the salt get in the way of the water molecules, making it harder for them to become re-arranged into crystals. This means that salt water remains in a liquid state for longer as the temperature reduces.

2. Higher boiling point
The answer to the question why do bubbles form when water is boiled? explains how, as the temperature of water rises, its molecules move around faster, collide more often and release more water vapor gas molecules. When the temperature reaches boiling point - about 100°C (212°F) - the pressure from the release of these molecules (the vapor pressure) becomes greater than atmospheric pressure and water vapor starts to escape as bubbles.

In salty water, Na+ and Cl- ions occupy some of the space between the water molecules. As temperature increases, although the water molecules are moving faster, there are less of them, so there are fewer collisions, less release of water vapor molecules and lower vapor pressure compared to pure water at the same temperature. It takes more energy (temperature) for the vapor pressure of salt water to reach and exceed atmospheric pressure and start to boil.

To raise the boiling point of one liter (34 ounces) of water by 1°C (1.8°F) requires about 58 grams (2 ounces) of salt. This is much more that the amount of salt typically added to boiling vegetables, which is done primarily for taste.

The Maccabees About Your Dress

Los Campesinos - You! Me! Dancing!

Cold War Kids -

Don't bring loo roll to Glasto

This year recycled toilet paper will be distributed for free at the festival. So don't bring your own.

However you still need lots of things. Don't forget wipes, bin bags, swimsuit, sunnies, camera and wellies ( as the light showers forecasted generally become thunderstorms. )

Apart from the major bands I have selected a list of groups that I'd like to see, performing at Glasto is magic and new bands always make a huge effort.

Couldn't deprive you of this.

For a life of glamour, always.

Past present and future

This picture that looks a bit 1940 it's a snapshot of yesterday's wedding.
I like the different combination of people quite amusing, it's like a piece of art.
While it stopped many passerbys yesterday will it look antique to the next generation?

What happens in cologne stays in cologne

Hence no additional story telling.
Just a couple of piccies....

Sugar Daddy V

Tits...tits
We sort of overtook the boys' shop. It was a very theatrical experience.

The refound pleasure of talking

Apologies for the lack of stories lately but I refound the sleep deprivating pleasure of talking. I made a new friend, E. , which can answer my 7 am question: Why are we here?
We soon had lots of lifestories to go through. Wonderful
So 2 weeks of dancing, dinners, interesting conversations, furniture shifting, chain smoking and early morning Pinot grigios...
Gina & Pina despite previously reprimanded, sent to my office a 25 kg hand knitted persian rug that clearly doesn't go with my habit to eat on the sofa.
And the lamp took two hours of M's patience. :-)
